Petaluma Police Department Press Release:
On 04/22/2018 at approximately 4:51 PM, the Petaluma Police Department responded to a report of an erratic driver who was entering Petaluma’s city limits on Lakeville Highway. A green Subaru Legacy was reportedly swerving into oncoming lanes and nearly caused a collision. It was reported that there was a child in the rear passenger area of the vehicle.
Petaluma Officers responded to the residence of the registered owner of the vehicle and made contact with Burum. She was contacted inside of her residence and appeared to be intoxicated. She admitted to driving the vehicle with her six-year-old child. Officers determined she was under the influence of alcohol and placed her under arrest. It was determined that her blood alcohol content was nearly four times the legal limit.
Burum is on probation for a prior arrest where she was arrested for DUI and Child Endangerment. She was subsequently booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
The Petaluma Police Department encourages motorists to call 911 or their local police department when they see someone driving they believe might be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
